The scent of a rose is heady
And as each one grows
Developing into the magnificent flower it is
Petals so soft
Color so vibrant
Fragrance so sweet
And yet the stem so thorny
Isn’t that how we are too
Soft and sweet
And when provoked our thorns come out
By washing ourselves in love
There is never a need for our thorny side
Because everything is gracious
In the light of God
